Los Angeles Dodgers Clinch Home-Field Advantage

In a season that has been full of ups and downs, the Los Angeles Dodgers have finally ended the season with the best record in Major League Baseball. As the battle for first place with the Philadelphia Phillies comes to a close, the Dodgers will now have home-field advantage all postseason.

Throughout the season, the Phillies and the Los Angeles Dodgers have battled back and forth for the best record in the league. For the vast majority of the year, the Phillies have held strong in their first-place position. As they have fallen behind recently, their loss today sealed their fate as the second-place team. How will the Dodgers fare in the postseason this year?

Los Angeles Dodgers: Best In the NL?

In the Philadelphia Phillies final series of the season, they officially handed over their previous possession of the best record in MLB to the Los Angeles Dodgers. Their loss to the Washington Nationals Saturday evening closed the door, allowing the Dodgers to clinch home-field advantage.

The Los Angeles Dodgers and the Phillies have met twice this year. In both matchups, Philadelphia bested Los Angeles. In the first series, the Dodgers were not able to steal a single win as they were swept in all three contents. Their recent matchup went similarly as the Phillies were able to take two of three from the Dodgers.

Despite their jarring losses to Philadelphia, the Los Angeles Dodgers have fared well otherwise. While being faced with uncertainty, injury, and a faltering pitching staff, they have been able to come out on top as they prepare to dominate in the postseason.

    Dodgers Clinch the West

Earlier this week, Los Angeles became the National League West champions for the 11th time in 12 years. The hard-fought divisional battle was growing tiresome as the San Diego Padres were closing in on their first-place slot, shortening their lead to two games at the beginning of their series on Tuesday.

Due to their recent success in their division and the entire league, this is the fourth time since 2017 that the Los Angeles Dodgers have been the winningest team in Major League Baseball. After their last World Series appearance in 2020, the Dodgers are seemingly in a good place to take home the title again.

    Dodgers In the Postseason

Now having clinched a spot in the playoffs, as well as their division, Chavez Ravine will harbor a great deal of games as the Dodgers push their way through the postseason. As their record is the best in the NL, they are the best among all AL teams as well, giving them the advantage through to the World Series.

With so much excitement surrounding the Dodgers’ clubhouse, they must use their remaining time in the regular season to prepare for the games ahead. The grit and passion the players have demonstrated all year will need to be channeled as they work their way toward a World Series.

This is not the Phillies year. They had every opportunity to seize home field advantage, by playing the lowly Nationals, but still couldn’t pull it off. I was a believer up until the All Star game, after that the Phillies tanked like last years Eagles team. LA has got it this year. Sorry to burst anyones bubble, but the Phillies will get swept out fast this year.
