Tampa Bay Buccaneers Victorious Week 4 In Florida Heat Beating Eagles

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were embarrassed by last week's 26-7 loss to the Denver Broncos. After watching the game tape, Bucs Quarterback Baker Mayfield was disappointed in himself and the offense with their lack of production in the game. The Buccaneers went into Sunday facing a 2-1 Philadelphia Eagles team with a good run game led by Eagles Running Back Saquon Barkley at their home stadium, Raymond James.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers only had 132 yards of receiving last week. Mike Evans, a veteran star for the Bucs, only had 17 yards against the Broncos. Mayfield's go guy this season, receiver Chris Godwin, had the only touchdown for the game with 53 yards. Could the Buccaneers get their offense together to beat the Philadelphia Eagles? The Eagles would be without some of their offensive weapons, Wide Receivers A.J. Brown and DeVonta Smith, for the game.

    Bucs Dominating Offense

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers had the longest streak of consecutive games without scoring on an opening offense drive of a game. That all ended on the Bucs first drive with a two-yard touchdown pass from Baker Mayfield to Mike Evans. On the Buccaneers first two drives they scored, and Mayfield was 12-of-13 with his second touchdown pass to Receiver Trey Palmer for 15 yards. Evans caught eight passes for 94 yards with one touchdown; with that score, Evans became the Buccaneers all-scoring franchise record holder with 596 points. The Bucs' offense line protected Mayfield well, as he was only sacked twice for the game.

The Buccaneers' run game was also productive, totaling 111 yards. Buccaneers rookie Running Back Bucky Irving provided a spark in the run game. Rachaad White, the Bucs' starting running back, followed the young rookies' lead. Both Buccaneers running backs finished with similar stats for the game. Both finished with ten carries for 49 yards; Irving would stand out with a touchdown. Mayfield was the first to score a rushing touchdown for the Buccaneers. Mayfield would finish the day with 30-of-47 in completions with 347 yards and two touchdowns.

    Buccaneers Tighten Up D

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers defense consistently terrorized Eagles Quarterback Jalen Hurts in the game, applying pressure on the offensive line. The Bucs D was such a menace during the first quarter that the Philadelphia Eagles' first three drives resulted in minus five yards on nine snaps. The Bucs defense piled up sacks on Hurts, ending the game with six, led by Bucs veteran Linebacker Lavonte David with two. The Bucs came into the game with only two sacks for the season.

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers kept Saquon Barkley out of the endzone and under 100 yards for the day. The Eagles running back finished with 84 yards on ten carries. Jalen Hurts got in the endzone for one touchdown but fumbled the ball on a drive in the third quarter. Hurts would end the day with 158 yards on 18-of-30 completions with one touchdown. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers would win the game 33-16.

    Final Thoughts

The Tampa Bay Bay Buccaneers came out in the first quarter on business, scoring on the first two opening drives and answering scores when the Philadelphia Eagles scored. The Eagles defense had a total of 13 missed tackles for the game. After a bad loss to the Broncos, the Buccaneers have bounced back against a struggling Eagles team. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers don't have time to celebrate this win as they have a Thursday Night game against the division rival Atlanta Falcons.
