Miami Dolphins Look Embarrassing Through 4 Weeks

In week two, the Miami Dolphins 2024 season was derailed following Tua Tagovailoa's concussion in a comeback effort against the Buffalo Bills. Following their week four loss to the formerly winless Tennessee Titans, the Miami Dolphins organization must respond to genuinely disappointing displays of professional football.

Miami Dolphins Fall To Shorthanded Titans

The Tennessee Titans secured their first win of the season with a commanding 31-12 victory over the Miami Dolphins after Mason Rudolph replaced an injured Will Levis early in the game. Starting their third quarterback in four games, Miami turned to Tyler Huntley, recently signed from the Ravens' practice squad, but he struggled under the pressure at Hard Rock Stadium. The Titans' defense dominated, holding the Dolphins to just 184 total yards, while their offense racked up 142 rushing yards and two touchdowns to seal the win.

The Dolphins’ struggles continued in their third straight loss, marking their worst start under Head Coach Mike McDaniel. Offensively, Miami was stagnant for most of the game, managing just 84 total yards over their first 10 drives. Quarterback Tyler Huntley finally sparked a late-game surge, leading an 85-yard scoring drive capped by his 1-yard rushing touchdown, but it was too little, too late.

Despite the defense forcing a quick three-and-out, Huntley’s intentional grounding penalty in the end zone sealed Miami’s fate with just over two minutes remaining, adding a safety to the Titans’ lead. Huntley ended the night with only 96 passing yards, as Miami finished with a dismal seven yards in the third quarter, allowing Tennessee to comfortably pull away.

Miami Dolphins Have Yet To Run Offense With a Lead

The Miami Dolphins’ only victory of the 2024 season came in dramatic fashion, with a walk-off field goal against the Jacksonville Jaguars. In that game, Miami trailed throughout, only pulling ahead with the final score. Since then, they’ve dropped three games, and notably, they have yet to hold a lead on offense at any point during a game this season. It’s a concerning statistic just four weeks in, as the team hasn’t experienced the confidence boost that comes with playing from ahead. This lack of in-game momentum could be detrimental as the season progresses.

    Dolphins Look To Salvage Season

The Miami Dolphins only hope for the season seems to remain with the seemingly pending return of Tua Tagovailoa following his clearance from his concussion. However, at this rate, the Miami Dolphins season may be virtually over by week six if the Dolphins do not show the capability to win games without him.

With their next two games being against the New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts, the Dolphins need at least one big win to keep their head above water. If they are 2-4 once Tagovailoa returns, the Miami Dolphins defense has not played up to par to believe in a potential late-season hot streak. If McDaniel does not manage to turn the energy in the building around, the Miami Dolphins season is as good as over.
