Kansas City Chiefs vs. New Orleans Saints DFS Start 'Em Sit 'Em| Week 5

The 2-2 New Orleans Saints are on the road for Monday Night Football. They come to Kansas City to face the undefeated and defending Super Bowl Champion Chiefs in Week 5. The fact that the Chiefs are 4-0 is not a surprise but how they have looked is. Kansas City just lost top wideout Rashee Rice, and Mahomes' fantasy numbers are pedestrian. The Saints have cooled after the 2-0 start and look to get back over .500 in prime time.

Here are a few of the players that we are leaning on heavily in this game. These players are in a good spot to put together a solid performance and have a favorable matchup.

New Orleans Saints RB Alvin Kamara ($7.5k DraftKings and $8.9k Fanduel)

Alvin Kamara's usage in both the pass and run game gives him a nice floor and you could argue he is this game's DFS lock. Kamara is PPR RB1, he has 97 touches, six touchdowns, and 536 total yards through four games. That is beyond elite usage and if we miss this one so be it, you start Kamara this week!

Kansas City Chiefs RB Kareem Hunt ($5.5k DraftKings and $7.1k Fanduel)

Based on last week's usage rate, Kareem Hunt is operating as the RB1 in the Andy Reid offense. Hunt saw 16 touches for 85 yards, half the red zone touches, and 58.3% of the rushes. More metrics to support Hunt, a 21% missed tackle rate and 2.71 yards after contact. We can use Hunt again as his very affordable DFS salary.

New Orleans Saints vs. Kansas City Chiefs DFS Sit 'Em

On the flip side, here are a few of the players we recommend sitting in this one.

Kansas City Chiefs RB Carson Steele ($4.8k DraftKings and $5.8k Fanduel)

We are sitting Steele here in Week 5 after last week's two carries for six yards. Steele was in essence benched after his opening drive fumble and only saw 2 of the Chief's 26 rushing attempts, which amounted to a 7% rushing share. Steele is an easy sit and hope you did not use a ton of FAAB on him.

New Orleans Saints TE Taysom Hill ($4k DraftKings and $6.4k Fanduel)

Using Hill outside of a best-ball format is a potluck and guesswork when he is going to go off. He is questionable with a rib injury which puts him at risk for reinjury even if active. If you want a DFS salary-saver option use Justin Watson at 56k on FanDuel.

Total Apex Lock of the Game

Kansas City Chiefs TE Travis Kelce ($5.8k DraftKings and $7.2k Fanduel)

Travis Kelce stands to benefit the most from the Rashee Rice injury, as he works the middle of the field. Kelce came alive last week with seven catches on targets and 89 yards. Kelce commanded a nice 31% target share and a 91% route participation. We see no way Kelce's usage rate does not go through the roof. If Kamara is not our DFS lock then Kelce is, the safe floor we need is there.

Total Apex Fade of the Game

New Orleans Saints QB Derek Carr ($5.7k DraftKings and $7.4k Fanduel)

After the first two weeks, you would not be putting Carr in a fade column. Carr has come back to earth in the last two games and now sits at QB16. Kansas City's defense is middle of the pack in yards per attempt allowed, passer rating allowed and fantasy passing points allowed, however top seven in points allowed per game. Carr might not be a sit but temper expectations on Monday Night.

    Conclusion

This game has the potential to offer good fantasy options, especially with the Chiefs at home, but they are not firing offensively as we expected this season. We are here to find the DFS options for you week to week. In addition, a sleeper play for you this week is Ju-Ju Smith Schuster as he profiles as the position receiver role that Rashee Rice served in the Chiefs offense.
