We knew that Kate Middleton and Prince Harry recently visited with Ms. Liz Hatton (17), who is a terminal cancer patient and accomplished photographer. She was on the radar of the Royal family after her photography bucket list went viral on social media. She was invited to the Windsor Castle to take photos of an investiture ceremony on October 2nd. The royal kitchen also made sure to have her favorite food available—lemon drizzle cake.

While at the palace, Hatton was told she would be visited by the royal couple. She was excited but figured it would be a hi and bye scenario. However, she felt honored because she had an in-depth conversation with Middleton. The two ladies chatted about photography, with a focus on different types of lenses. What a cool experience.

Ms. Hatton is terminally ill after being diagnosed with a rare, aggressive form of cancer in January of 2024. She was told she had six months to three years left to live. It’s remarkable that she is still pursuing her photography bucket list. She was quoted as saying, “It is uncertain how long I have, how long I’ll live. But it is certain that it won’t be for a long time. And so because of that, I feel like the only thing you can do is do as much as possible, as much as possible of what you want to do and what you enjoy. And to spend it with the people you love.” What an inspiring young lady!

Kate Middleton’s Own Diagnosis

Kate Middleton has her own health journey that includes an intense battle with cancer herself. The princess revealed her cancer diagnosis in March of 2024. She did not share what type of cancer she had, which is of course her right. In September of 2024, she revealed that after nine months of chemotherapy, she is cancer-free. What a blessing! We have slowly seen her appear more publicly in recent months, which is heartening to see.
