Baltimore Ravens: Biggest Test in Week 6 Against Washington Commanders
1 hours ago
The Baltimore Ravens are coming into Week 6 tied for first in the AFC North at 3-2 with the Pittsburgh Steelers. Meanwhile, the Washington Commanders have been a top-3 team in the NFL, going 4-1 and leading the NFC East. This is gearing to be another wild shootout, as both offenses are in the top five in the league yardage-wise.
While Baltimore’s run defense is the best in the NFL, Washington has struggled especially against the pass, like the Ravens. The Commanders aren’t great against the run, so it will be interesting how a dual between two-time MVP Lamar Jackson and rookie sensation Jayden Daniels will pan out in a game that is projected to be “game of the year”.
Battle of the Beltway, 4-1 vs. 3-2
The Baltimore Ravens are on a three-game win streak, coming off a massive win in Week 5 over the divisional rival Cincinnati Bengals. If the Ravens want to go 4-2, their defense will have to show up against the potential rookie of the year Jayden Daniels, and the high-flying 4-1 Washington Commanders team.
The same can be said for Washington and their struggling defense, as they will have a tough test against a historically great rushing unit that can air it out when needed.
The Commanders are on a four-game win streak and have put up at least 20 points in every contest, like the Ravens. The stakes for both teams are quite high, as the Baltimore Ravens can keep pace with the Steelers, who play the Las Vegas Raiders in Week 6.
The Washington Commanders are trying to fend off the likes of the Dallas Cowboys, who are a game behind, along with the Philadelphia Eagles and New York Giants. Both those teams are just two games back in a tightly contest NFC East.
Their receiving core, featuring Zay Flowers and their trio of stud tight ends, can show up big time and have a good matchup in Week 6 against Washington’s secondary.
The Commanders with Daniels are tied for 4th as a top-five offense, with the 2nd-best rushing attack along with the 14th-ranked passing attack, making them formidable in their own right. Offensive coordinators Kliff Kingsbury and Todd Monken schematically are in their bag right now with playcalling. This will be an exciting back-and-forth between the top offenses in the NFL.
Final Thoughts on Baltimore Ravens vs. Washington Commanders
Unfortunately for the Baltimore Ravens, their secondary has been torched through the air as the second-worst unit against the pass, and even with Marlon Humphrey potentially playing, it is a major concern. He was back in practice in a limited fashion but was seen in a walking boot after last week’s game.
The veteran corner had the game-sealing interception against Joe Burrow last week. His potential absence would be felt in covering the likes of veteran receiver Terry McLaurin.
It could be another big Henry game for Baltimore, but we have seen when opposing defenses sell out to stop the run, the Ravens can pick secondaries apart with Flowers, Rashod Bateman, and their dynamic tight ends Isaiah Likely and Mark Andrews. Even Charlie Kolar and Nelson Agholor can get in the mix, as it is tough to defend with their multiple sets. Justice Hill has played a big factor as well.
The Baltimore Ravens offense has been able to win in multiple ways, now they are challenged to do it again this week against a Washington Commanders’ offense that can do the same.
