Madoka Magica’s Captivating New Chapter: Walpurgisnacht Rising

Madoka Magica's upcoming installment of Walpurgisnacht: Rising is slated to arrive sometime in winter 2025. The trailer is relatively short, clocking in at approximately 30 seconds, and doesn't reveal much information. The trailer opens with a sequence of Homura and Madoka dancing together before shifting to other characters. Something seems off about the Homura who is dancing, though. Most strikingly, her eyes are a completely different color now.

Madoka Magica: A New Chapter

The upcoming release of Walpurgisnacht Rising in 2025 follows on the heels of Rebellion. The first trailer, released in 2023, focused on Homura as an all-powerful demonic entity. It then shifts gears to focus on her traumatic past across multiple timelines.

Since the end of Rebellion, the one lingering plot point is the world in which Homura trapped everyone. There's also been a lingering question of whether Madoka will regain her memories and oppose Homura. The title also suggests that Walpurgisnacht, who caused the inciting incident, will play a significant role.

The Film's Development

So far, not much is known about the upcoming chapter of Madoka Magica. It's hardly surprising, given that the designated release date for the new installment is currently more than a year away. Some of the shots in prominent focus during the trailer hint at the possibility that alternate timelines are involved in the plot somehow.

It seems likely that the story will prominently feature multiverse theory or some doppelganger. Several new characters are also present, which likely means an expansion of the core cast. A lot of what is known now is speculation and fan theory, with little known.

The Story So Far

She erases the other magical girls' memories and creates an ideal world. Homura inserts herself into their lives after returning the others to a version of their pre-series lives. She does this despite knowing they will become enemies if Madoka ever regains her memories.

Final Thoughts

Madoka Magica's new trailer for Walpurgisnacht: Rising doesn't tell us much yet. However, there is still enough for fans to start speculating what elements will be included. Some things, like Homura's eyes being a different color, seem to confirm some elements of multiverse theory.
