    Key Stats

    New York Mets

The New York Mets are looking to put Game 1 of the series in their rearview mirror as they are coming off a 9-0 road loss in Game 1. The lineup was shut down as they were just 3-for-29 with three walks and eight strikeouts. The team failed to record an extra-base hit in the game as Francisco Alvarez, Jose Iglesias, and Jesse Winker were the only Mets with a hit.

New York also struggled as they were 0-for-3 with runners in scoring position and stranded five men on base while also having Starling Marte and Pete Alonso each commit an error. The pitching had a rough time as Kodai Senga could not locate pitches and went 1.1 innings and allowed three runs on two hits with four walks and zero strikeouts.

Veteran left-hander Sean Manaea (1-0, 2.25 ERA) will be on the mound for the New York Mets in this game and is doing well this playoffs. He is 1-0 with a 2.25 ERA and a 0.92 WHIP through 12.0 innings thus far. Hitters are just batting .214 against him in the 2024 MLB Postseason thus far so he is doing well mixing his pitches. Manaea is coming off a victory over the Philadelphia Phillies where he threw seven innings and gave up one run on three hits with two hit by pitches, two walks, and six strikeouts over seven innings.

    Los Angeles Dodgers

The Los Angeles Dodgers are in a great position as they are coming off a 9-0 dominant home win in Game 1 of the NLCS. The lineup was able to go 9-for-31 with seven walks and six strikeouts. However, they only had one extra-base hit as Mookie Betts hit a double late in the game. The team hit with runners in scoring position as they were 5-for-11 in those situations and stranded seven men on base in the game. Shohei Ohtani was caught stealing in the game as well. Jack Flaherty dominated as he pitched seven shutout innings to put the Dodgers in a great spot.

The Los Angeles Dodgers will turn to veteran right-hander Ryan Braiser (1-0, 4.91 ERA) to be the opener for this game as he is 1-0 with a 4.91 ERA and a 0.82 WHIP in 3.2 innings (three games). Braiser has done well with his control as he has not allowed a walk in his last 11 postseason outings, spanning back to 2021. He is coming off a no-decision against the San Diego Padres where he threw 1.1 perfect innings and recorded a strikeout.

    Prediction

This Los Angeles Dodgers team has not allowed a run in 33.0 innings and should continue to at least keep the New York Mets off the board for the majority of this game. Sean Manaea has shown the ability to keep the game close and not allow crooked numbers this season and Game 2 of the NLCS is no exception. Manaea faced the Dodgers once this season and gave up two runs over five innings so he has quieted down this star-studded lineup. These teams combined for nine runs when the Mets could not throw many strikes so they should be in a better spot here. Go with the under as the best bet we can make

    Final Pick

    Under 8.5 Runs (-120)
