The Golden Knights appeared unrecognizable in game four, thwarting their game improvements, and ultimately falling short of extending their 2024-2025 NHL season record. The Golden Knights appeared jet-lagged in the first period after the journey. The VGK started with intense aggression, only to lose steam after the first few minutes. The Washington Capitals scored early in the first. The Caps (Washington Capitals) were much more present in the first than Las Vegas was. After a penalty on the Caps, the Knights finally settled into their skates. Victor Olofsson put Vegas on the board first. The first period concluded at 1-1.

Period 2

The second period of game four of the regular season for the Golden Knights was a quick five-on-three in favor of the Caps. Nicolas Roy's penalty had a few seconds carried over into the second. The Golden Knights caught another penalty directly after their penalty kill. The Washington Capitals took advantage of the man advantage, the new score 2-1. The Capitals threw three pucks on the net, each making it past Adin Hill, all within the first seven minutes of the second. As the VGK tried to stop the bleeding, former Golden Knight Logan Thompson looked on from his new club's net.

Jack Eichel noticed the severity of the first few minutes of the game. Hoping to start the Knights off in their offensive momentum, Jack Eichel, in response, scored off the rush. Unfortunately, the score was 4-2, and the Knights failed at connecting plays and sustaining offense. The Washington Capitals were able to keep puck possession for the majority of the remaining period. The Golden Knights had many opportunities to clear but could not successfully do so. The saving grace for the VGK was the period clock ending.

Period 3

The start of the third period in game four required a lot of work to be done for Vegas. The Washington Capitals offered two power plays to the Golden Knights, but both opportunities were unappreciated. Victor Olofsson left the ice with the help of two Knights. After a large collision with the boards, Olofsson struggled to recover.

The foreboding exit is the last thing the Vegas club needs. The Golden Knights still found themselves in their defensive zone, trying to break up the offensive plays and clear the puck. The Golden Knights missed the mark tonight, and with the clock winding down, the Knights emptied their net for the extra attacker, only to end game four 4-2.

Golden Knights End Their Winning Streak

Game four ended with an unexpected team dethroning the Golden Knights of their 3-0 record. The Golden Knights spent the vast majority of playtime in their zone. Missing passes, a strained defense, puck recovery, and issues sustaining offensive rushes were all issues presented in the Golden Knights gameplay tonight.

With a potential serious injury lingering over Victor Olofsson's ankle, the Knights need to reassess their improvement areas. Unlike the previous games, the Knights did not turn the tide in their favor after period one, but hopefully, they can recalibrate before they face Tamp Bay on Thursday night.
