All About the Cool Fuchsia in Animal Crossing 2024

Are you looking for a dear big sis in Animal Crossing: New Horizons? Fuchsia might be the one that makes you doe-eyed. The Animal Crossing franchise —published by Nintendo, which has American subsidiaries in Washington—is highly regarded for its huge cast of quirky characters. Villagers are central to the daily gameplay loop, where they offer tasks and opportunities for friendship. This guide covers all you need to know about Fuchsia, one of these villagers.

    Fuchsia in Animal Crossing

Fuchsia is a pink deer villager introduced in Animal Crossing: New Leaf for the Nintendo 3DS. Alongside hamsters, deer as a whole made their debut in New Leaf and are the most recent villager-capable species in the series. Deer are unique as they display sexual dimorphism: Male deer have antlers atop their heads while females do not (save for Shino’s oni-like horns). The only other species that share this quality are kangaroos. Fuchsia has the sisterly personality, which also first appeared in the 3DS game. She shares this personality trait with fellow deer Deirdre. Fuchsia's birthday is on September 19, making her a Virgo.

Her name in English is a rather direct reference to her vibrant fur color. In the Japanese version of the game, she is instead called “Jessica.” While this may sound bland initially, there is some clever wordplay afoot with this name. Jessica in Japanese is pronounced more like “Jeshika," and shika (鹿) happens to be the Japanese word for deer. Beyond just her fur color, Fuchsia has some other unique design choices. Her ears have yellow piercings, with 2 on her left and 1 on her right. Along with her purple eyeshadow, she has a bit of a rough-and-tumble look to her, which fits her personality. Now that you know more about Fuchsia, here's how you can get her.

    How to Get Fuchsia

Finding Fuchsia could have you looking like a deer in the headlights. The campsite offers one recourse to obtaining her. A randomly chosen villager will sometimes visit your island’s campsite, allowing you to play games with them and ask them to join your community. However, the odds of this villager being our dear pink deer are minuscule due to the game's huge number of characters. You could also use her Amiibo card at the Nookstop terminal in Resident Services to directly invite her to your campsite. Note that while random campsite villagers can be obtained the same day they visit, the Amiibo method requires several days of effort as villagers invited this way will not immediately move onto your island.

Another way to hunt for Fuchsia is through a Mystery Island Tour. These tours can be initiated at the airport by using Nook Miles Tickets. However, like the campsite, the odds of finding her will be low as villagers found on tours are randomized. It is easy to burn through hundreds of tickets before potentially finding your desired character. The most direct way to acquire her is through another player, thanks to New Horizons’s online capabilities. Villagers occasionally express the desire to move out and head off to new islands. When the moving villager is packed in boxes, another player can visit them and request they migrate to their island.

    Pretty in Pink

Fuchsia is a cool villager who can offer a lot to your community. While she may seem standoffish at first, she will grow to become protective of you and impart helpful advice. She may even bequeath you items like medicine should you require it. If you desire her to join your island, prepare for some cutthroat bartering. Fuchsia is an incredibly popular character, sometimes ranking in the top 10 most wanted villagers. This places her amongst the most noteworthy stalwarts of the franchise, so she commands high prices on the market. Still, it is understandable why people fawn over Fuchsia. Her personality, design, and other attributes coalesce into a potentially dear friend.
