PS5 Pro Edition of Dragon Age The Veilguard Will Be Enhanced

Bioware recently released details about how its newest edition to the Dragon Age franchise, Dragon Age the Veilguard, will incorporate the latest enhancements for the PS5 Pro console. These include improved fidelity and performance settings, Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO), and additional resolution settings to maximize the visual look and feel of the game. Dragon Age the Veilguard will join other popular titles, like Diablo 4 and God of War: Ragnarök, among nearly sixty other titles, currently announced to receive the PS5 Pro enhancements.

Specs

In a blog post, Bioware confirmed that the game will target 30FPS and 60FPS with its fidelity and performance modes, respectively. Offering better image quality and clarity to the game, the AI-powered feature called PlayStation Spectral Super Resolution (PSSR) upscales graphics for a more advanced look and feel of the game. The new inclusion of Raytraced Ambient Occlusion (RTAO) further advances the game’s FPS by enabling integration into the 60FPS performance mode -when previously, it was only available for the 30FPS setting.

Whether you love deep progression, strategic combat, or diving into the lore of Dragon Age, you will immediately notice the improved experience with PS5 Pro. The game's Fidelity and Performance modes will both see improvements on the hardware, including improved resolution in 30FPS Fidelity and 60FPS Performance modes.

4K

Kurowski clarified further that Dragon Age the Veilguard will not run at 4K 60 FPS, on the PlayStation 5 Pro. However, the game will include improved visual and graphic effects to enhance both the Performance and Fidelity modes. This includes additional settings that may be adjusted to the player’s preferences, like Raytracing, which can be toggled on or off whenever necessary and offers a visual experience unmatched by the standard PS5.

Pre-Load and Release Times

With Dragon Age the Veilguard’s release set less than two weeks away, the team at Bioware has announced additional information regarding the dates when console players can pre-load the game onto their systems. For Xbox series X/S that date was October 14, 2024, at 9 AM PDT. For PlayStation 5 players, the pre-load window is October 29, 2024, at 9 AM PDT. Conversely, PC players will not have the option to pre-load and must wait until launch day to download. -as the game will not include any third-party DRM (Digital Rights Management) like Denuvo.

Dragon Age: The Veilguard is the property of Bioware, a subsidiary of Electronic Arts, headquartered in California. It will be released via Steam, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S on October 31, 2024.
