Joel Embiid’s health has been the talk of the Sixers’ offseason. The Philadelphia 76ers MVP played 39 games and missed the rest due to a knee injury. Today, Shams Charania reported that “the NBA is likely to begin an investigation later this week into the Philadelphia 76ers surrounding the player participation of All-NBA center Joel Embiid.”

After playing for the USA Men’s Basketball team, the Sixers center didn’t show any signs of discomfort. Also, he was one of their best players. However, the Cameroonian missed the team’s preseason games due to a scheduled assessment of his knee. Also, Embiid didn’t participate in scrimmages during practice.

With the hope of seeing the "Big Three" team perform on the season’s opening, the Sixers received an injury report news that Embiid and Paul George won’t participate in the game. Embiid commented that he might not play back-to-back games due to his load management. According to Charania, the Sixers said Embiid is responding well to his individualized plan. Also, the ESPN insider said that the All-NBA center should return to the court this week, including going through scrimmages.

During the Sixers media day, Joel Embiid revealed that he lost 25 to 30 pounds during the offseason. He also debunked any recognition from All-Star, All-NBA to MVP as he focuses on staying healthy for the 2025 playoffs. The Sixers franchise is in line with helping Embiid stay healthy. However, missing national television games attracted the attention of the NBA officials.

Embiid isn’t the only player on load management. Paul George is also part of this plan. Daryl Morey told ESPN that the 76ers franchise will be smart about it. Also, George won’t be playing back-to-back games for the Sixers. With such a statement, the Sixers fans have no choice but to depend on Tyrese Maxey to elevate the team this season.
