87th Annual NAACP Illinois State Conference to address economic, educational, and social justice issues
CHAMPAIGN, IL (Chambana Today) – The Illinois State Conference NAACP has announced that it will be hosting its annual convention in Champaign. This 87th annual convention is September 27th-29th at the Hilton Garden Inn. The NAACP invites members, supporters, and the general public to participate in the conference. This year’s theme will be “All In,” which “embodies the spirit of unity and collective effort needed to address the pressing issues facing our communities,” said the NAACP leadership in their announcement. There will be a variety of workshops focused on economic development, housing, criminal justice, education and health.
Holistic healing at Heart of a Veteran
The mission of Heart of a Veteran is to help veterans and their caregivers reach their health goals through holistic and alternative approaches to healing. The organization started in 2015 as a book written by 10 veterans. Jordan Holwell, founder of Heart of a Veteran, was a massage therapist with Higher Energy Massage Therapy. She supports the veteran community through low/no cost massage to help with the effects of PTSD and TBI.
