After years of sustained complaints, some residents at Phoenix Towers in Bloomington are hoping to take matters into their own hands. A handful of tenants living in the downtown apartment building are attempting to form a tenants union or residents council, though their legal rights in doing so appear more limited than that of their peers in other public housing developments.
Juvenile charged in Traders Circle shooting in Normal
A juvenile male faces attempted murder and other charges in connection with a shooting in north Normal earlier this month. According to a news release from the Normal Police Department, agents from the U.S. Marshals Task Force, with help from the Normal and Bloomington police departments, arrested the juvenile on an outstanding warrant on Monday. His name is not being released because he is a juvenile.
