TOWANDA, Pa. ( WETM ) — A Towanda man was hit by a drunk driver and killed while standing next to his parked car on Tuesday night, and two others were injured, police say. The driver is facing multiple charges.

According to the Pennsylvania State Police Department, Charles F. Scott, 39, of Columbia Cross Roads, was driving his Chevrolet Silverado north on South Main Street in Towanda Township at about 10 p.m. on July 30. Scott’s vehicle left the travel lane and hit a Kia Sorento that was legally parked on the shoulder and the SUV’s passengers who were standing outside the vehicle.

Travis Delamater, 39, of Towanda, was standing near the rear passenger side of the SUV when Scott’s truck hit him, according to police. Delamater died from the injuries he sustained in the crash. Angela Baker, 33, of Towanda, and a 4-year-old child were standing on the driver’s side of the Kia and injured.

Scott sustained minor injuries from the crash. Police say Scott showed signs of being impaired, and he was arrested.

Scott was charged with homicide by vehicle while driving under the influence (class 2 felony), accidents involving death or injury while not licensed (class 3 felony), recklessly endangering another person (class 2 misdemeanor), DUI/unsafe driving (misdemeanor), disregarding traffic lane (summary), and careless driving-unintentional death (summary).

Scott is currently being held at the Bradford County Prison on $300,000 bail.
