Asolo Rep Summer Camps help kids experience the magic of theater

Asolo Rep Summer Camps use theatrical skills from all elements of the art form to encourage campers to use their imaginations, to express their ideas and to explore their world through theater. Whether performing a story of their own design or developing a quest for characters they developed themselves, campers experience theater from many different angles: performance, design, story building and (most importantly) imaginative play.

Young Artists classes and camps allow students to find and develop their imaginative spark: Adventurous artists! Courageous creators! Performers and designers! These programs provide the learning, challenges and support young people need to grow and thrive as artists and humans.

The following camps are offered:

• Ages 6-7: Artistic Adventures classes and camps invite students to dream big and experience bold new stories as they build teamwork and creative problem solving skills.

• Ages 8-10: Courageous Creating classes & camps introduce students to storytelling structures and drama skills as they bring stories and characters to life.

• Ages 11-14: TheatreMakers classes take students into every aspect of the theater development process, including performance, design, writing, building and so much more.

• Ages 14-18: Asolo Rep Young Artist Series (YAS) provides technique-based trainings, unique classes and workshops, and volunteer opportunities for 14-18-year-old theater-makers. These experiences aim to bring young artists to the next level while giving them the opportunity to learn with professional artists.

Asolo Rep teaching artists and staff are highly qualified educators, performers and artists who share a passion for teaching. Many have advanced degrees and teaching certifications while also having extensive stage, film and performance credits. Through direct programming creation and collaboration with Asolo Rep Education & Engagement staff, students who work with our teaching artists receive dynamic and substantive artistic and educational experiences across all programming areas.
