PITTSFORD, N.Y. (WROC) — The big day is almost here. The day that the Buffalo Bills Training Camp will return to St. John fisher University in Pittsford. And ahead of the Bills Mafia’s takeover, town officials as well as nearby restaurants are getting ready.

While there are a lot of logistics to figure out when it comes to navigating this amount of people who will make their way to Pittsford, the main thing officials say is how exciting this time of year is.

Bills Training Camp 2024 at St. John Fisher: Here’s what you should know!

“There’s always a sense of a feeling of excitement in the air every year when the Bills training camp is here,” Town of Pittsford Town Supervisor Bill Smith said.

On Tuesday afternoon, St. John Fisher University getting ready for the three-week training program. Smith says he and his team work hard on coming up with a plan to keep the excitement moving throughout the town.

Part of that plan — ensuring those headed to training camp have a place to park. Also, that those who live in the area and won’t be in attendance have a place to park too.

“We’ve done this long enough where I think we have it down pretty well,” Town Supervisor Smith said. “So, anyone that wants to come and see the Bills training camp, you can park at either of our two high school parking lots, Pittsford Sutherland High School, or Pittsford Mendon High School, and there are shuttle buses that run from there to St. John Fisher.

Those spacious parking lots made available to make sure the roads adjacent to St. John Fisher, where parking is restricted, are not congested.

“The issue is making sure that things like ambulances and fire trucks can get in when they need to,” Town Supervisor Smith said.

Businesses down the street from St. John Fisher also getting ready. Pittsford Pub and Grille Owner Scott Thyroff says training camp snuck up on him but told me he’s brought in extra staff to welcome the Bills fans.

“The excitement around the village right now is very high. It always is when the Bills come to town. Hopefully we’ll see some of the guys throughout the next couple of weeks,” Scott Thyroff said.

And the fans have already started arriving! Sarah Bakert is from Upstate New York but has been rooting for the Bills from Baltimore for the past few years and is excited to be back and see the team in action.

“I expect to see a bunch of players, get lots of signatures, and for my kids to have lots of fun.,” Bakert said.
