Elden, who served in the Korean War, was awarded the Centurian level Order of Saint Maurice by the National Infantry Association at Liberty Village in Geneseo on Sunday by his grandson, Keith W. Elden, an officer in the Army Infantry. The Centurian is the second highest level of award given through the Order of Saint Maurice.

Town of Phelps gets $1M grant
PHELPS — The town has been awarded a $1 million grant to replace a culvert on Melvin Hill Road that carries water from a tributary to the Canandaigua Lake Outlet. Town Supervisor Bill Wellman announced the grant in a press release. The grant, through the state’s BRIDGE NY initiative, was announced earlier this month by the office of Gov. Kathy Hochul.
