Music in the Glen returns for 5th year

ENDICOTT, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – As this busy fourth of July weekend approaches, it’s the perfect time to join in to watch some live music at Glendale Park.

Music in the Glen started in 2020 during COVID, as a way for people to gather outside and enjoy a variety of live music.

The concert series returns to Glendale Park in the Town of Union this week and will run into September. There will be two performances a week, on Tuesdays at 6 p.m. and on Saturdays at 4.

Over 20 different groups are performing, some of which include the Pocket Bandits, Alpha Brass Band and the Eric Peters Jazz Trio.

Founder Rob Weinberger says the bands perform under a pavilion and concertgoers can bring a chair or a blanket and enjoy the music, under the shade of the trees.

“I’ve invited different artists to perform especially looking at people who are a bit more creative, whether they have original music or unique sound arrangements of cover tunes to try to give them more of an opportunity to be seen and heard within the community,” said Weinberger.

Weinberger says this year, the event has partnered with the Broome County Arts Council to receive funding for the pavilion rental fee. He says in the event of a rain out, there will be opportunities for make-up dates.
