Two Charged After Police Chase in Broome County
Two men are charged after a vehicle pursuit in Broome County a week and a half ago. According to the Broome County Sheriff's Department, members of the Road Patrol tried to conduct a traffic stop on Thorp Street in the City of Binghamton on June 14th. The vehicle took off at a high rate of speed, ignoring emergency lights and sirens. The chase went through the City of Binghamton, Town of Dickinson, and the Village of Johnson City. The office says the driver ignored traffic lights, drove recklessly into opposite lanes and over sidewalks.

Local leaders asking for more traffic cameras in Binghamton
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (WIVT/WBGH) – The District Attorney is urging Binghamton City Council to pass a resolution that would add new public cameras to high crime areas. Broome County District Attorney Paul Battisti held a news conference this morning to announce that the county legislature has approved $66,000 in funding to the Binghamton Police Department to install new city cameras. The DA says city council took the resolution off of the agenda before their last session and urges them to reconsider during their meeting on Wednesday.
