Troopers investigate fatal crash in Owego
On July 18, 2024, shortly after 1 p.m., New York State Police were dispatched to the construction area of State Route 17 in the town of Owego for a serious crash. According to police, a tractor-trailer and a motorcycle with two occupants collided shortly after 1 p.m. The collision left one-person deceased, and a second person was transported to Wilson Medical Center.

While once playing alongside Kurt Cobain in Nirvana, the passing of the singer left a massive hole in the music industry and in drummer Dave Grohl. Broome radio system, mobile unit streamline law enforcement communication. How it works
A newly implemented radio system in Broome County streamlines communication across local law enforcement agencies. The updates, which totaled $35 million, include the creation of 23 new radio towers and over 4,000 radios, implemented over the past year and half. The system was partly funded through a 2019 legislative bill which allowed Broome County to charge cell phone customers one dollar a month for 10 years to pay for the program.
Cannabis Association of New York to hold cornhole tournament Saturday: What to know

Broome-Tioga BOCES is hosting a rapid hiring event next week for those interested in becoming teacher aides in Broome and Tioga Counties this fall. The event is scheduled for Wednesday, July 24th from noon to 4 p.m. at the Instructional Support Center at 435 Glenwood Road in Binghamton. Teacher aides provide support to both teachers and students alike in the classrooms and potential candidates will be able to learn the responsibilities of an aide, fill out applications, and participate in immediate interviews and reference checks.
