SUNY Upstate Medical University has renovated its “College of Health Professions” building to support the growing demand for Allied Health Professions. The industry is expected to grow by 15 to 30 percent in the next ten years and includes studies in respiratory therapy and medical imaging scientists. Dean Katherine Beissner says health students are different from medical students and can also land high paying jobs after graduation.
National used-car retailer to open 1st location in Syracuse area
Cicero, NY - CarMax, a national chain of used-car retailers, plans to open a location in Cicero. It would be the first CarMax in the Syracuse area and Central New York. The site plan for the project has been approved by the town of Cicero planning board, according to town officials.

Two charged after traffic stop with illegal gun possession
MAMAKATING – Two people have been arrested following a traffic stop on Route 17 west in the Town of Mamakating on weapons possession charges. State Police announced on Wednesday that minutes before 5 a.m. on July 1, they stopped a vehicle occupied by two men and with the aid of a K-9 unit, located an illegally loaded Taurus G3C .9 mm semi-automatic handgun in the glovebox.
