After long absence, popular coffee chain returns to Lake Norman with new store

After an absence of at least fifteen years, Caribou Coffee has returned to the Lake Norman area, opened a new store on 15 July, and is planning a second location soon.

As a long-time fan, this is thrilling news for me. I remember being a regular at the former store that closed in the mid-2000s at the Super Target-anchored Winslow Bay Commons retail center in Mooresville.

Despite the store's popularity, corporate decided to halt expansion in North Carolina and other markets at that time, much to the dismay of many loyal customers, including myself.

Coming from New England, where Dunkin’ Donuts is a staple, I found myself hooked on Caribou Coffee's unique Pacific Northwest blends.

• New Store Location: Caribou Coffee's new store is at the corner of N.C. 150 (East Plaza Drive) and N.C. 115, in a Food Lion-anchored retail center in Mooresville.
• Amenities: The location includes indoor and patio seating, as well as a drive-thru.
• Menu Offerings: The menu features breakfast sandwiches, bakery items, Caribou’s new iced beverages like Fruit Shakers and energy drinks, alongside their specialty coffees.
• Grand Opening Specials: Daily grand opening specials are available from Friday, July 19, through Sunday, July 28.
• Second Location: Caribou Coffee plans to open a second Lake Norman location on September 11 at 7925 Commerce Drive, off N.C. 16 in Denver, according to the store website.
