When it comes to store closures, retailers and restaurants have had a bad first part of the year, announcing hundreds of shuttered locations across the country. Companies impacted so far have included Express, Red Lobster, Rite Aid, TGI Fridays, Stop & Shop, and Conn’s HomePlus.

Another member of that list is the discount retail chain Big Lots, which earlier this summer announced it would close at least 35 stores due to "elevated inflation" and decreased consumer spending.

Here's which locations are closing and more.

What Big Lots stores are closing in North Carolina?

There are currently over 75 Big Lots locations in NC. No closing dates are listed so far. The stores will be running sales until closure.

The stores set to close include:

    • Charlotte: Pineville - 9535 S Blvd, Ste C.
    • Charlotte: Newell - 8215 University City Blvd, Ste E.
    • Durham - 3420 Southwest Durham Drive.
    • Durham - 2000 Avondale Drive.
    • Jefferson - 822 E Main St.
    • Raleigh (Garner) - 1515 Garner Station Blvd.
    • North Raleigh - 6540 Glenwood Ave.

We have a big lots across the street where we live and no one shops their often. It’s been about two years since I have and their prices aren’t that bad. It just seems like most of us are programmed to go to Walmart. I shop at dollar tree and dollar general too. Big lots needs to push more advertising out on social media. A lot of people have “cut the cord” and doesn’t watch a lot of tv so tv commercials aren’t reaching a lot of people anymore.
