Downtown Doughnut café to permanently close Aug. 25 in North Carolina

The Stay Glazed Donuts and Café, a locally-owned downtown donut shop, will close permanently on August 25. The shop, located at 22 S. Pack Square, faced numerous challenges over the past year, including:

• Landlord conflict
• Equipment issues
• Unexpected changes and requirements set by the health department
• Decreased foot traffic
• Leaks at the historic Jackson Building, where the shop is a tenant in the lower level

Owner Samantha Rose announced the closure on a social media on August 5. Despite the closure, Rose mentioned that the business is under reevaluation, considering farmers markets and other avenues for selling donuts and pastries.
