Big cities are known for their hustle and bustle, drawing people in who crave excitement, variety, and entertainment. But bigger isn’t always better, or at least not for Raleigh, North Carolina.

In fact, if you ask Reddit, Raleigh is the fifth most boring city in the country.

This study was conducted at BetCarolina. They set out to find what they describe as “America’s most unremarkable metropolitan area”.

To do this they surveyed 600 U.S. residents via the subreddit r/AskReddit. They asked users to select the “most boring US city” from a list of the country’s most populous ones. And apparently, people find Raleigh North Carolina boring.

It ranked as the 5th most boring city on this survey.

4. Houston, TX

6. Dallas, TX
7. Jacksonville, FL (TIE FOR 6th)
8. Columbus, OH

Raleigh is the 5th-Most Boring City in America?

As mentioned, the Redditors ranked Raleigh the fifth most boring city in America. But at least, there are four cities even more boring.

Indianapolis takes the number one spot in our poll, earning 5.5% of the total votes. Meanwhile, the Southwest is looking particularly sleepy, claiming spots two through four with with San Jose (5.2%), Phoenix (4.3%), and Houston (4%) being named among the top five most boring U.S. cities.

Despite its appearance amongst the most boring cities in the country, Raleigh residents shouldn’t feel too disheartened. After all, Reddit is rife with overreaction and harsh opinions. In fact, whether you’re a visitor or a lifelong resident, there’s a lot of fun to be had in the City of Oaks.
