If you’re anything like me, certain rules of thumb guide your life—one being that if someone can’t appreciate the simple joy of a grilled cheese sandwich paired with tomato soup or chili, we might not have much in common.

Yes, you heard that right! The Pure & Proper originally opened as a Pure Oil Station in the 1940s. Though it’s no longer a place to fill up your tank, the building remains a cherished landmark. Now, more than 80 years later, it has been transformed into an upscale eatery.
