Fall Favorite Pie Ranks As North Carolina’s No. 1 Favorite, But It’s Not Mine

When it comes to pies, the options are endless. After receiving data on each state’s favorite pie, I discussed it with friends and coworkers.

Surprisingly, they agreed more with the rankings than I did. I’ve never thought of pies as a cold-weather dessert, but a fall favorite ranked as North Carolina’s top choice, and my friends concurred. Me? Not so much.

I’m a key lime pie girl—it's one of my all-time favorite desserts. I’d choose any refreshing, summer-vibe pie like lemon or coconut over a fall favorite. But, according to a study by Holiday Calendar, I’m in the minority.

They “analyzed grocery shopping data of 12 million Americans and surveyed 4,500 people in 15 states” to determine favorite pie flavors.

North Carolina’s Favorite Pie:

1. Pumpkin Pie
2. Apple Pie
3. Chocolate Cream Pie
4. Peanut Butter Pie
5. Cherry Pie

Pumpkin pie, a Thanksgiving staple, tops the list in North Carolina. South Carolina leans toward Pecan Pie, another fall favorite. And my beloved Key Lime? It’s the favorite in Florida, Georgia, and surprisingly, New Jersey and Nebraska!
