Red Lobster Continues Nationwide Closures, Including NC Location

Red Lobster is continuing to close more locations as part of its ongoing bankruptcy proceedings.

Recently, a court filing revealed that 23 additional restaurants will be shutting their doors by Saturday, August 31, adding to the more than 100 closures that took place earlier this summer. After these closures, Red Lobster will be left with about 500 locations, down from 650 just last year.

Red Lobster’s struggles have been attributed to mismanagement, increased competition, and inflation. The chain, once a pioneer in the restaurant industry, saw a shift in ownership when Thai Union, a global seafood supplier, became the leading shareholder in 2020. However, the company filed for bankruptcy four years later, in May 2024.

Among the locations set to close in North Carolina is the Red Lobster at 304 A Western Blvd., Jacksonville.
