Winter may seem far away, but the Farmer’s Almanac is already looking ahead. Their 2024-25 winter forecast predicts what’s in store for North Carolina and the rest of the U.S. As someone who doesn’t enjoy winter, I’m hoping for a mild season, but what does the Almanac say?

    National Forecast

According to the Farmer’s Almanac, this winter will be relatively calm across the U.S., with temperatures slightly up and snowfall down in most areas.

Carol Connare, the Almanac’s editor-in-chief, expects “a temperate, uneventful winter” compared to recent extremes. While there will still be snow and chilly temperatures, the impact of high heating costs might be less severe.

What’s in Store for North Carolina?

In North Carolina, the western part of the state is forecasted to experience a "mild" but "snowy" winter, while the eastern regions are in for "cool" and "wet" conditions.

The central part of the state can expect “mild” and “wet” weather. Personally, I’m not thrilled about the snow prediction for the west, but at least the east looks less wintry.

Elsewhere, dramatic winter rainstorms are expected to drench Florida, the Deep South, and Southern California. Meanwhile, heavy snowfalls are projected for central Appalachia, the Ohio Valley, and the Rockies—good news for skiers!

    What Do You Think?
Are you excited or dreading the potential snow in North Carolina? How do you feel about the forecasted winter weather? Share your thoughts below!
