Restaurant in North Carolina Implements Dress Code Sparking Online Debate

A restaurant in Greensboro, Kim’s Kafe, has posted a strict dress code on its front door, sparking widespread discussion. The rules—posted on the door and windows—read "no skimpy clothes of any kind," "no crop tops," "do not enter if you have on shorts," and "no leggings."

The restaurant also shared the dress code on Facebook, where it garnered over 10,000 comments and 4000 shares, with many questioning if a business can legally enforce such a policy.

According to David Daggett of Daggett Shuler Law, businesses are within their rights to impose dress codes, as long as they are not discriminatory.

“If I don’t like people who wear blue shirts, I can refuse service to them, as long as I apply that rule equally and not based on discrimination,” Daggett explained.

It’s not just about clothing—businesses can also enforce rules like accepting only cash or prohibiting cell phone use.

Ultimately, as a customer, your choice is simple: you can either follow the rules or take your business elsewhere.
