Food insecurity remains a pressing issue in North Carolina, with many counties facing high rates of hunger.

According to Feeding America, food insecurity is the lack of consistent access to enough food for a healthy life. Despite 86.5% of U.S. households being food secure in 2023, millions of Americans still struggle according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.

Here are the 10 counties in North Carolina with the highest rates of food insecurity, based on 2022 data:

    Scotland County

      • Food insecurity: 19.4%

Our government receives billions from the federal government. Food should be a priority. The presidential candidates or a movie star can raise millions in one night. People in the USA should not feel food security anxiety. Taxes are misused and government waste is high. Focus on water, food and air quality. Make what's vital to living a priority.
