Have you ever met someone who’s afraid of driving over bridges? I recently did, and at first, it threw me off.

But when my friend explained that her fear of heights makes certain bridges terrifying, I could see how that would be unsettling.

So, I got curious and looked up some of the most dangerous bridges in the country. Turns out, North Carolina is home to a couple of them according to Explored Planet!

The Norfolk Southern–Gregson Street Overpass has toppled more cars and trucks than any other in North Carolina, granting it the nickname "the Can Opener." The bridge itself is for a railroad in Durham. The danger is not on top of the bridge; it's under it!

Then there’s Greensboro’s "Worst Bridge in North Carolina" (Bridge 299), where over 134,000 cars pass daily. It’s been dubbed one of the most dangerous bridges in the U.S. due to its poor condition, and while there’s talk of repairs, nothing’s been done yet.

What about you? Do you have any scary bridge experiences? Let’s talk!

about time Norfolk Southern fixed this it's just they don't want to bunch up their train schedules they would have to build another bridge next to it and then tie the new tracks to either end the could install it without harming train travel or is this a spur track that gets used once a week?
