3 North Carolina Cities Named Among The 'Hardest-Working' Cities In The U.S.

According to a recent study by WalletHub, Raleigh, Charlotte, and Durham have proven themselves to be among the hardest working cities in the country.

Out of 116 cities analyzed, Raleigh ranked 23rd, Charlotte 24th, and Durham 46th, all placing within the top 50.

The study compared cities based on direct work factors like average workweek hours and employment rates, as well as indirect factors such as the amount of unused vacation time and average commute times.

These findings reflect the strong work ethic in North Carolina's major metropolitan areas.

For perspective, the top 5 hardest-working cities were Washington, DC, Irving, TX, Cheyenne, WY, Virginia Beach, VA, and Anchorage, AK.

    According to the site:

"[Americans] work so hard, in fact, that we put in more hours at our jobs than several other industrialized countries. The average U.S. worker puts in 1,811 hours per year — 204 hours more than the average in Japan, 279 more than the U.K. and 470 more than Germany."

Do you think North Carolina cities deserve their rankings, or are they working even harder than the numbers show? What's your take on work-life balance in your city?
