Greg Abbott Installs New Razor Wire in El Paso

    2024-03-26

Over the weekend, additional Texas National Guard soldiers were deployed, and more razor wire was installed at the border in El Paso.

Texas Governor is continuing to reinforce border barriers and deter any illegal immigrants. Texas is holding strong. In recent months, tensions between Texan authorities and the federal government have escalated due to disagreements over how to handle illegal migration across the southern border.

On January 22, the Supreme Court ruled that federal agents could remove razor wire placed along the border on the orders of Governor Abbott. This ruling sparked a furious response from the Republican Governor, who claimed that his state was being invaded and invoked its constitutional authority to defend and protect itself.

“Whether it is a war zone overseas, responding to a natural disaster here at home, or securing our border, each member of the Texas National Guard shows true courage, dedication, and a strong desire to protect their fellow Texan. Our guardsmen have been a critical part of Operation Lone Star since its inception more than three years ago, and I thank the brave men and women of the Texas National Guard for their bravery, dedication, and service to our great state.” Governor Greg Abbott

A spokesman for Abbott said that the absence of razor wire and other deterrents "encourages migrants to make unsafe and illegal crossings" and makes the job of Texas border personnel more difficult. Governor Abbott's efforts have resulted in fewer immigrants crossing the border.
