74-Year-Old Michigan Man with Dementia Stabs Wife and Grandson Before Attempting Suicide
After reportedly stabbing his wife and his grandson in Sterling Heights on Thursday, a 74-year-old man was placed under arrest. The 11900 block of Danforth Drive was the scene of a police response at approximately 7:20 pm. The man reportedly stabbed his wife with a knife when she woke him up from sleep, cutting her face and neck superficially, according to an initial investigation.

According to a preliminary investigation, the man, who suffers from dementia, was awoken by his wife and allegedly attacked her with a knife, causing superficial wounds to her face and neck.

Sterling Heights police rescue man with dementia lost in woods
Sterling Heights police Friday released videos of their rescue of an elderly man with dementia who disappeared from his home this week. “If it was not for the hard work and due diligence by all of the officers involved, there was a high likelihood that this individual would not have survived the nearly untravellable thick woods that he was stuck in," Sterling Heights police Chief Dale Dwojakowski said in a statement. "Not only was he lost in an area that is not traveled by the public, but he already sustained injuries from being in the woods, as well as he suffered from severe dementia.
