Falling tree sparks fire at Tenafly home
A fire, apparently caused by a downed tree, led to the evacuation of a home in Tenafly on Saturday, July 6. No one was hurt. "It was caused by a large branch of the tree," said Lt. An 18-year-old Guttenberg man gave police officers a bad name when he was caught with a loaded handgun yesterday morning, authorities said. Miguel A. Palma, 18, of Guttenberg, was charged with unlawful possession of a weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, the possession of a firearm by a minor (under 21 years of age), possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and possession of prescription legend drugs, police said.

Amtrak service restored between NYC and Boston after power outage
NEW YORK — Amtrak service has been restored between New York and Boston after it was suspended for much of Saturday due to a power outage, the rail service announced. In a statement Saturday afternoon, Amtrak said the service disruption was due to a malfunctioning circuit breaker that was causing a power outage on all tracks between Penn Station in New York and Union Station in New Haven, Connecticut.
