Fire Chief will not face criminal prosecution for holding gun on teens

An Upstate fire chief will not face criminal charges after holding two teenagers at gunpoint.

As we previously reported, two years ago Townville Fire Chief Billy McAdams saw a vehicle turn around in his driveway and pursued the vehicle from his home on the Anderson County side of Townville into Oconee County.

A civil suit has been filed against McAdams and his son Wyatt. The suit claims that the two blocked the vehicle in and then held a gun on them and ordered them out of the vehicle. Our own Rob Jones obtained this 9-1-1 recording that captured Mcadams admitting to hold the two 16 year olds at gunpoint.

McAdams claimed he had things stolen off his property prior to this incident and was convinced the teens had pulled in his driveway to rob him. There's been no proof the two teens did anything other than turn around in his driveway.

The Oconee County Sheriff's Office responded to the incident but did not file charges on McAdams. The Solicitors Office cited a lack of criminal intent by McAdams.

A judge cited there was enough evidence to prosecute but if a warrant was issued for McAdams then a warrant for the two teens would have to be issued.

However, It's unclear what the teenagers would have been charged with. McAdams remains the Chief for the Townville Volunteer Fire Department.
