The Tippecanoe County coroner says Purdue student Jacob Devine, 20, was killed Friday while riding his bicycle.

The collision happened around midnight in the 6300 block of State Road 26 West. The investigation is ongoing.

“On behalf of the School of Aeronautics and Astronautics, I want to extend our condolences to Jacob’s family and friends,” department chair Bill Crossley wrote in a message.

Devine, from Towson, Maryland, was a sophomore in aerospace, aeronautical and astronautical engineering, a member of Alpha Epsilon Pi, and a manufacturing lead for the Purdue Space Program.

“Jacob was just a great guy. He was always fun to hang out with and go to shows with. He was a very smart dude and could also rip on a guitar,” said friend Derek Azpeitia. “My last memory with him was us jamming with our amps set up outside and making a lot of noise. Words cannot explain how much I’m going to miss him and everyone else that got to know him.”
