Page County Announces Split With Chamber and Location of New Visitor Center
LURAY, Va. – For the past several years, the Luray-Page Chamber of Commerce, Page County Visitor Center and railway museum were all operated from the restored 1906 Norfolk & Western train depot at 8 Campbell Street in Luray. Beginning July 1, 2024, the new Page Valley Visitor Center will be run by a completely separate organization (and in a separate location) from the Luray-Page Chamber of Commerce.

According to a late May, 2024 media release from the Eastern District of the Virginia U.S. Attorney's Office, Wendy Nicole Lawrence stole mail from postal customers, removing gift cards, checks, and other items of value for her own use.

RICHMOND, Va – After a lengthy investigation, the owner of the Washington Commanders will return hundreds of thousands of dollars in deposits to season ticket holders. Miyares, the investigation and settlement have already led to the return of over $600,000 in security deposit funds to approximately 475 season ticket holders.
Sheriff Requests Personal $18k Salary Increase for 'Animal Control Duties'
LURAY, Va. – Page County Sheriff Chad Cubbage has requested a pay increase for his role in overseeing the county’s Animal Control Division. At theJune 17, 2024 Board of Supervisors Meeting, Cubbage presented Supervisors with a brief overview of animal control and his supervision of the department, pointing out that the state does not require sheriff's offices to oversee animal control. Cubbage claims that while previous sheriffs were compensated for this role, he has not.

The case was continued to June 17, but on that date, Wagoner was absent.
Subject Arrested After Selling Meth To Undercover Agents
EDINBURG, Va. – A Shenandoah County man is facing multiple charges after police caught him selling drugs and searched his home. According to a June 12, 2024 media release from the Shenandoah County Sheriff’s Office (SCSO), an investigation was initiated May 1, when the SCSO and members of the Northwest Virginia Regional Drug Task Force began an investigation into the illegal sale of narcotics in the 900-block of Hamburg Road.
New 'Farm Use' Tag Laws To Take Effect July 1
VIRGINIA – The days of buying (and regulating) your own “Farm Use” tags are now over, according to the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV). Beginning July 1, 2024, unregistered farm use panel trucks, pickup trucks, and sport utility vehicles must display a DMV-issued permanent farm use placard. According to AgDaily.com, the new placards will have an alphanumeric identification number and are non transferable.
Erratic Driving Captures Attention of Police; Meth, Fentanyl and Heroin Discovered in Vehicle
LURAY, Va. – A routine traffic stop led to the discovery of a large amount of drugs, and the arrest of a Roanoke couple. According to a media release from the the Luray Police Department (LPD), the chain of events began on June 5, 2024, when officers observed several traffic violations committed by the same vehicle on US 211 West. At approximately 3:00 pm, LPD officers were able to initiate a traffic stop and speak to the male and female inside of the car.
