With many areas of the nation experiencing record-setting high temperatures, the only thing more refreshing than an icy-cold drink is a free icy-cold drink.

7-Eleven, Inc., the world’s largest convenience store chain, will celebrate its 97th birthday on July 11, 2024 (7/11) – an annual celebration also known as Slurpee Day.

According to a company media release, all customers who visit participating 7-Eleven stores this Thursday will receive a FREE small Slurpee drink.

In 1927, the world’s first 7-Eleven convenience store was created on the dock of an icehouse in Dallas, Texas.  By the 1950s, the company expanded by opening locations in Florida, Maryland, Virginia, and Pennsylvania. The famous Slurpee drink was created in 1965. Annual birthday celebrations (and Slurpee giveaways) began in 2002.

Slurpee Day is our annual celebration of 7-Eleven’s birthday and our iconic frozen drink; it’s a day of joy, community and good old-fashioned summer fun,” said Marissa Jarratt, Executive Vice President and Chief Marketing & Sustainability Officer at 7-Eleven, Inc.

This year’s celebration includes a bonus offer for those who use “7Rewards” on the 7-Eleven app. Members who scan their rewards barcode on Slurpee Day will get a coupon for one free small Slurpee drink to redeem before July 31.

Today, 7-Eleven operates, franchises and/or licenses more than 13,000 stores in the U.S. and Canada. They’ve also expanded operations to include several international locations in Asia and Europe.

My 7 year old keeps asking about the “smoothies” we get for free in July. 🤣 She gets slushees at our local gas station, Sonic, Walmart gas station, and Burger King, but the free July “smoothie” at 7-11 is one of her summer core needs! 🥹❤️
