Horrific Crash Claims Life of Teen Driver

FAUQUIER COUNTY, Va. – Virginia State Police are investigating a single-vehicle crash that killed a Catlett teenager on Friday.  

According to an emailed media release from VSP Sergeant Brent W. Coffey, the incident occurred August 9, 2024. 

At 10:51 p.m. a 2006 Ford Focus was traveling south on Elk Run Road (Route 806) when it crossed a double solid yellow centerline, and ran off the left side of the roadway. The vehicle then struck a fence and collided with several trees before overturning near Shenandoah Path (Route 607).  

The driver, Ramiro Henandez Barriga, 19, died at the scene. He was wearing a seatbelt.

The crash remains under investigation.
