WARREN COUNTY, Va. – A Woodstock woman faces additional charges after escaping during an inmate transport.

According to a media release issued by the Warren County Sheriff’s Office (WCSO),the incident occurred September 27, 2024 as a deputy was transporting two prisoners from Northwestern Regional Adult Detention Center (NRADC) to Rappahannock Shenandoah Warren Regional Jail (RSW).

At approximately 12:23 p.m., Denise Danielle Roles, a female inmate, manipulated the rear door of the transport vehicle and escaped in the area of Ft. Collier Road and Stratford Drive in Frederick County. She then fled on foot.

The WCSO deputy immediately contacted the Frederick County Sheriff's Office (FCSO) and requested assistance. Several units from the FCSO and the Winchester Police Department arrived to assist in the search.

During the search, a female resident in the 100 block of Banbury Terrace alerted deputies that a woman fitting Roles' description was inside her residence and assaulting her spouse.

Deputies quickly arrived and took Roles into custody at approximately 1:16 p.m.

Further investigation revealed that Roles had forced her way into the residence, verbally threatened both occupants by implying she had a weapon, and physically assaulted a male victim.

Roles, 36, has been charged with felony escape, felony assault, robbery, breaking and entering, two counts of abduction, and property damage. She is currently being held without bond at NRADC.

The Warren County Sheriff's Office is now conducting an administrative review to ensure that all policies and procedures were followed in connection with the escape of this inmate.

The male who was assaulted was transported to Winchester Medical Center where he was treated and released.
