CORE, W.Va. — On November 9, a former Stanley man died after he was thrown from his dirt bike and struck by a vehicle. According to the Monongalia County Sheriff’s Office (MCSO), William Ray Burker, 29, of Morgantown, was traveling east on single-lane Henderson Hollow Road when he lost control on the gravel road and fell into the roadway. Authorities say a westbound pickup truck failed to see him in enough time to avoid striking him. Burker was pronounced dead at the scene.

According to a statement on the Luray Police Department (LPD) Facebook page, officers responded to the Luray Caverns parking lot after receiving reports of two masked men forcing an adult female into a vehicle and driving away. A juvenile female was also also involved in this incident, but not held against her will.
