An arriving officer noticed the subject, identified by police as 29 year-old Chance Redwater, moving but having difficulty walking. An officer asked Redwater to stop while trying to speak with him and he refused. That’s when the officer attempted to reach for Redwater’s arm. Redwater then tensed up and threatened to hit the officer. Redwater attempted to pull away from the officer, but the officer was able to assist Redwater to the ground to be taken into custody. Eights Split Important Doubleheader with Harrisburg Maroon
Pierre Post 8 would earn a big split on Saturday in hot conditions at Hyde Stadium as the Eights would drop the first game 6-2 but win the second game 6-4. Harrisburg Maroon would get a two run homer in the top of the first by Lincoln Brandt as Harrisburg would lead the entire way. A wild pitch would score the Eights first run in the bottom of the first, but Pierre would have just one hit through six innings. An RBI double from Griffin Schlapkohl in the top of the sixth and Brandt’s bases loaded walk would be Harrisburg’s only other RBI, but a couple of wild pitches would help get the lead to 5-1 after six and 6-1 heading into the seventh. JJ Bucholz would have an RBI single in the seventh to make it 6-2 and the Eights had the tying on up to the plate, but couldn’t cash in any more runs. Miles Doyle would be tagged with the loss going five and 2/3 innings allowing just six hits, four runs, three earned, on four walks and eight strikeouts.

Torrential rains lead to near-average runoff forecast for Missouri River basin
(Omaha) -- Torrential rains in parts of South Dakota, Iowa, Nebraska, and Minnesota have led to a near-average runoff forecast in 2024 for the Missouri River Basin. That was the message from U.S. Army Corps of Engineer officials during its monthly update Thursday. Since the last monthly update, heavy rainfall led to severe flooding in parts of northwest Iowa and minor to moderate flooding along the downstream Missouri River. For June, corps officials say runoff above Sioux City was 6.6 million acre-feet, or 119% of average and 2.6 million acre-feet higher than the forecast. Thus, Ryan Larsen Corps Engineer Adam Larsen says the 2024 calendar year runoff forecast for the Missouri River Basin above Sioux City has increased to 24.6 million acre-feet, or 96% of average.
