In a twist of real estate drama fit for the silver screen, a Los Angeles home recently revamped by actress Rosario Dawson is now up for grabs for $1,995,000. This comes just months after Dawson, alongside the renowned Property Brothers Jonathan and Drew Scott, transformed the home in a heartwarming surprise for her best friend, Sal.

    A Hollywood Surprise with Heart

In January, Dawson, known for her roles in blockbuster hits and social activism, collaborated with the Scott brothers on HGTV’s popular show “Celebrity IOU.” The renovation project, a tribute to her long-time friend Sal—a costume designer and confidant since Dawson's early days in Los Angeles—focused on refreshing the home’s living and dining areas. The heartfelt episode showcased Dawson’s deep gratitude and enduring bond with Sal, capturing their emotional reunion and the stunning transformation of the space.

"I can’t fully express how much it meant that you supported me when I first moved to LA, from driving me to auditions to making me feel at home," Dawson shared during the episode. Her heartfelt gesture was a testament to their enduring friendship, marked by an elegant renovation that breathed new life into Sal’s residence.

From ‘Grandma’ to Glam: The Renovation Journey

Sal’s home, a 1939 build embodying Hollywood Regency style, initially carried a "grandma" vibe, according to Jonathan Scott. The Property Brothers revamped the dated living room with modern sophistication—replacing old bookshelves, removing shutters, and painting the ceiling a bold black to create an illusion of grandeur. "The black trim and ceiling will draw the eye upward, making the space feel larger and more majestic," Jonathan explained, enhancing the Regency aesthetic with a contemporary twist.

The dining room received a dramatic overhaul as well. Dawson’s suggestion led to the installation of intricate wallpaper and a sleek black door, transforming the once-dated space into a bold and stylish area ideal for entertaining.

    Chic Upgrades and Untapped Potential

While the renovation spotlighted the living and dining rooms, other areas of the 2,355-square-foot home still hold room for personal expression. The kitchen retains its unique lilac-colored cabinets and eye-catching chandeliers, while the grand staircase boasts an ornate railing. The primary bedroom, with its yellow walls and vintage furnishings, awaits a fresh touch, offering the next owner an opportunity to inject their style into the space.

The main bathroom, however, stands out with its sparkling new shower and clean white cabinets—a testament to the renovation’s careful attention to detail.

A Stage Set for New Beginnings

This property presents a compelling mix of Hollywood charm and renovation potential. With its high-profile makeover and emotional backstory, Dawson’s home invites new owners to step into a space that is as much about the story as it is about the style.
