NEW WILMINGTON, Pa. — In a world where connections are often fleeting, one tiny house stands as a beacon of teamwork and friendship for the Westminster Women's Lacrosse Team. Nestled in a cozy backyard adorned with a fire pit, this little blue home transcends mere shelter; it is a sanctuary where athletes gather to foster camaraderie and chase their ambitions, proving that big dreams can flourish in small spaces.

Shea O'Donnell, a member of the lacrosse team, shares her experiences living in the Tiny House this semester. "It's not just a place to stay; it’s a getaway from the dorms, where we come together as a team," she explains. The vibrant atmosphere and unique layout encourage players to bond beyond the field, forming friendships that enhance their performance in games and life.

This month, Shea hosted a memorable team bonfire, inviting teammates to share their thoughts on this remarkable space. "Women’s lacrosse loves the tiny house," said Caitey Wozniak with enthusiasm. "Having a teammate living here has been such a fun experience, allowing us to spend quality time together off the field. The outdoor area, with chairs and a fire pit, is perfect for larger gatherings!"

For junior Haley Wenzel, the Tiny House represents a "home away from home." She emphasizes the close-knit nature of the team: "We all consider each other family, and having a place to come together and bond is incredible. We're so lucky to have this space."

Embracing sustainable living, the Tiny House opens new avenues for the lacrosse team to share resources and cultivate a strong sense of community. The unique lifestyle encourages environmental consciousness, reinforcing their connection to both each other and the Westminster community. "It’s inspiring to see how our commitment to sustainability strengthens our bonds as teammates and empowers us to make a positive impact," Shea adds.

Coach Bria Braddock captures the essence of the Tiny House perfectly: "I've always loved the concept of tiny houses, and having one for our team is amazing! It makes bonding experiences so much more memorable and provides a great space for gathering. Hearing their stories and seeing their pictures together at the tiny house fills me with joy. That small space holds a lot of laughter and love!"

Looking ahead, the Westminster Women’s Lacrosse Team is excited to host Grove City College and Edinboro University for a Fall Play Day on Saturday, October 26th, at the UPMC Sports Complex. This event promises to showcase not just athletic prowess but also the deep connections fostered in their cozy community.

As the team continues to thrive in their tiny haven, they remind us all that sometimes, the smallest spaces can lead to the biggest dreams.
