One of Manhattan's Most Colorful Homes Lists for $8.75 Million

A vibrant, one-of-a-kind residence on Manhattan’s Upper East Side has hit the market for $8.75 million. The 4,000-square-foot, full-floor condo, located on East 76th Street, is owned by artist Apryl Miller, known for her love of bold colors and creative designs.

Miller purchased the apartment with her ex-husband in 1998, and over the years, transformed it into a technicolor sanctuary. Every corner of the space is infused with her artistic touch, making it a unique family home. “I created a home in which to raise my children and in doing that, I thought of them individually,” Miller told Mansion Global.

One particularly quirky detail is the kitchen table, supported by plexiglass tubes with shelves, giving her children a place to store toys underneath. Miller also added a loft above one daughter’s bed, forgoing a standard bunk bed, while another daughter, an avid dancer, had a stage built into her bedroom.

The apartment is listed by Stan Ponte and Colin Montgomery of Sotheby’s International Realty. While property records don’t reveal the purchase price, the current listing showcases the home’s “vibrant palette of bold hues and warm metallics” across Venetian plaster, hardwood floors, colorful tiles, and inlaid carpets.

The expansive layout features an entry gallery, a living room with sweeping views of Central Park and the Manhattan skyline, a dining room, a media room, an eat-in kitchen, and five bedrooms. The primary suite includes two walk-in closets, a raised sitting area, and a meticulously designed bathroom, which Miller considers her favorite room. She personally laid out the intricate floor tiles over a six-week period.

Though parting with the home is bittersweet for Miller, who raised her children there, she embraces the idea of change. “If someone comes and guts it, I’m fine with that,” she said, reflecting on the freedom that comes with this new chapter.
