Celebrity Home Sell-Off: Sports, TV, and Music Stars Offloading Luxury Properties

In the wake of personal struggles or career shifts, several high-profile celebrities have been parting ways with their luxury homes. From sports stars to TV hosts and musicians, these famous figures are not only moving on from their lavish properties but potentially facing financial losses due to quick sales.

    Andrew O'Keefe

A once-celebrated figure in Australian television, known for hosting shows like Deal or No Deal and The Chase, Andrew O'Keefe has receded from the public eye following drug and domestic violence convictions, which he is currently appealing. Despite being appointed a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) in 2017 for his contributions to television and charity, O’Keefe’s legal battles have overshadowed his once-glowing career. Recently, he sold his four-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 61 Murriverie Rd, North Bondi, for $6.025 million. The property, designed by award-winning Sam Crawford Architects, combines a beach house ambiance with a country homestead feel.

    Jarryd Hayne

Controversial former NRL star Jarryd Hayne has seen his property portfolio dwindle, primarily to cover ongoing legal costs. Hayne’s rape conviction was overturned on appeal, and prosecutors have indicated they will not pursue a fourth trial. However, he remains entangled in a civil suit related to the same allegations. Among his sales was a two-bedroom, one-bathroom house at 29 Silver St, Marrickville, which sold for $1.565 million in 2021. He also sold another property, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home at 2 West Ave, Darlinghurst, for $2.1 million in 2019.

    Iggy Azalea

Australian rapper Iggy Azalea, originally from Mullumbimby, New South Wales, skyrocketed to fame with hits like Fancy and Work. However, controversies over cultural appropriation and failed projects have led the rapper to sell her Hidden Hills mansion in Los Angeles. Listed for $8.6 million, Azalea ultimately sold the property for $5.949 million. Amid a struggling music career, she also ventured into reality TV and briefly joined The X Factor Australia, as well as experimenting with OnlyFans content. Azalea has since shifted her focus to building a cryptocurrency empire with her memecoin, "Mother Iggy" ($MOTHER).

As these celebrities move on from their luxury homes, the sales reflect both their changing personal lives and the financial impact of their legal battles or career declines.
