The Ohio Department of Transportation (ODOT) recently nominated Pamela Vest Boratyn to serve as ODOT director, effective Oct. 1.

Boratyn would replace Jack Marchbanks who is stepping down on Sept. 30 to return to a career in academia.

Boratyn has had a more than 30 year public service career, and has served in various capacities with ODOT including as assistant director and chief of staff. Her experience also includes working for the attorney general’s office as Transportation Section chief and Transportation Section general counsel. She currently serves as Ohio Police & Fire Pension Fund deputy executive director.

The state Senate will need to confirm Boratyn.

“I want to thank Director Marchbanks for his leadership of ODOT since the beginning of my first term as governor,” Gov. Mike DeWine said. “Jack has shared my vision for increasing safety on Ohio’s roads and making sure that our transportation system works efficiently to serve our residents, businesses, and visitors. I am also pleased that Pam Boratyn has agreed to serve as ODOT’s new director. Pam has a passion for public service and a wealth of experience in the transportation sector.”

Marchbanks has been ODOT director since 2019. During the transition period, he will serve as a senior policy advisor.
